What techniques are used in Paintless Dent Repair?

Our Tech uses special metal tools, rods, picks, and light hammers to slowly feel the metal sheet and push it in the right way by exerting the necessary pressure from the inside out, gently smoothing out the surface to remove the dent.

By applying controlled forces on the dented metal, it is possible to completely reverse the effects of the impact. So the panel looks like it was never damaged, as the original paint remains undisturbed as before.

Won’t the paint crack during the process?

If too much force is applied, the paint will crack. But our dent specialists will do this very gently, as all rubbing and pushing is done from behind the dent. It is a methodical work that starts at the outer periphery of the dent, gradually closing in, until it eventually disappears completely.

What if there is no access from the rear?

If there is no access possible from the rear, then our techs may use the glue pulling method. Nylon plugs are bonded on the dent by hot-melt adhesives. When cool, these dents are pulled out with a special tool into their original shape. This method allows working from the outside too.

Does PDR require special expertise?

Not all body shops can offer this service as only specialized trained, skilled and qualified technicians can do a Paintless Dent Repair job. Special tools are required for PDR, but more importantly, the technicians must be trained, qualified, and experienced to do PDR jobs successfully.

What about older cars?

If your car is a classic, older than 90’s model then again PDR will not be feasible, since the paint is not flexible enough and the metal is thick and not quite malleable. Always check with us to be sure, every dent is unique.
